Slow-Baked Ham with Brown Sugar and Mustard Glaze

There’s something truly magical about the aroma of a ham slowly roasting in the oven, especially when it’s coated in a mouthwatering glaze of brown sugar and mustard. Baked ham is a classic centerpiece for special occasions and family gatherings, and for a good reason – it’s incredibly delicious and surprisingly simple to prepare. In this recipe, we’ll guide you through the process of creating a tender, flavorful, and perfectly caramelized baked ham that will have your guests coming back for seconds.

The key to success with this dish lies in the “low and slow” approach. Pro Tips for success :

Choosing the Ham: When selecting your ham, opt for bone-in ham as it retains moisture better during the slow-baking process. Ensure the skin is left on to keep the ham juicy.

Score the Ham: Before applying the glaze, score the ham’s surface with a sharp knife in a crisscross pattern. This allows the flavors to penetrate deeply into the meat.

Use a Meat Thermometer: To ensure your ham is perfectly cooked, use a meat thermometer. The internal temperature should reach 140°F (60°C).

Basting is Key: Baste the ham every 30 minutes to keep it moist and to build up layers of flavor from the glaze.
